Potentially Dangerous COVID-19 Websites

Scammers are using COVID-19 to make money — don’t let it be at your expense. There are a few types of scams. The email type offers you information if you click on a link in the email, and possibly enter your personal information. Don’t do it! Don’t click! For reliable information go to the CDC.gov website, and your state, county, or city health department’s website. The information most personal to you will be on your local health departments’ websites. The website-based scams take you to fake information about the virus, including maps of its spread that will put malware on your computer, and fake cures they want you to pay for. Here is a link to a real map. Forbes reported six websites posing as COVID 19 information sites that Lindsay Kaye of Recorded Future labeled as potentially dangerous, and six websites that Bernardo Quintero, founder of VirusTotal, identified as possibly doing harm to your computer. Thank Forbes, and don’t be fooled by the scammers.
